The District Department of the Environment, through its Energy Office, seeks to improve the District's economic competitiveness and quality of life for its residents. DDOE's Energy Office provides energy efficient support for all end-use sectors (residential, commercial, governmental, institutional and transportation), as well as financial assistance to low-income customers. The office also intervenes for energy efficiency in utility regulatory and legislative proceedings before the District's Public Service Commission and the DC Council. Many outreach programs are offered to teach residents, students and businesses how to make energy effiicient decisions.
Mission
To help improve the District’s quality of life and economic competitiveness by Making the District of Columbia Energy Efficient, i.e., a community whose residents, businesses, government, and visitors routinely make informed energy choices.This office offers a full service, comprehensive array of well managed programs and is recognized as a self-funded agency, a one-stop shop easily accessible to all its customers, and exemplary to the emphasis placed on energy education.
